Torpey Tags was created to solve a long‑standing problem for Royal Caribbean cruisers: paper luggage tags that tear, smudge, fall off, or require folding, taping, cutting, or stuffing into fragile sleeves.

History

I’ve been cruising with Royal Caribbean since 2006. Over the years, I’ve folded, taped, stapled, cut, and stuffed hundreds of paper luggage tags. Every cruise, I found myself thinking the same thing — there has to be a better way.

Removing old tags often tore the sleeves. Humidity made tape peel. Staples snagged fabric. The whole process was tedious and unreliable.

Development

In 2024, I began researching a permanent replacement. After testing multiple materials, I found that PVC at 0.76 mm thickness (the same as a credit card) was the perfect solution. It’s durable enough to survive:

During early prototypes, I referred to them as “my tags.” Friends and family started calling them “Torpey’s tags,” and the name stuck — Torpey Tags became the official brand.
